THE NEED FOR FAILURE.I

f we can count how many times we've failed in life, it tells on how many attempts we have made to succeed. Those who have succeeded massively have lost counts of how many times they've failed. If you fail more than others, it could be a gesture of how successful you may be more than others.

Those who have been significantly successful in life have failed more than anyone else. We only learn about their successes and not much we learn about their failures. Sometimes your relationship may have to fail many times before you will ever stay married. Or you keep it by all means and pay dearly for it later in your marriage.

One of the basketball icons, Michael Jordan said:

I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. Twenty-six times, I’ve been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.

Whatever we learn from failure is to teach us something about succeeding.

Those who hanged themselves because they failed had lacked knowledge and orientation that their life depended on failure to succeed in life. There's one thing to fail groundless and there's another to fail grounded. Those who fail groundless either look for shortcut or resolve to suicide because they do not understand the power of failure. And those who fail grounded knows what it means to fail, and where to improve because they understand the importance of failure.

That's why I always say, If you fail at first, pause before you try again for you need to ask, have I learnt yet from my failure? It is suicidal to keep failing without learning from our failures. Either in marriage, relationship, business, and our studies. We are bound to fail, for to err is human.

Why should I commit suicide because today brings me failure? I'll rather do all I can within my power to live to face tomorrow, for who knows if it shall bring success?

If I die because of today's failure, then I will be buried amidst of the unruffled success tomorrow shall bring. Not for me to enjoy, for the dead are conscious of nothing, but as a reminder to everyone that if a man dies today because of his trouble, tomorrow blessing will never cease because of him. It will only elude him. We must stay to live, and we must live to win.

Sometimes we wake up tired, and not because our body is weak, but because our mind is weak. And we wonder if today will be as usual as every other day. Sometimes we feel sick, and not because our body is sick, but because our spirit struggles to find hope and peace.

Life is brutal for those who prepare for it, fatal for those who fail to prepare. Whether you prepare or not, life will shock you, but the difference for those who prepare is that, they will always survive the shock.

No matter what failure brings to your table, either shame or stigma, never let it define who you are. Failure is never meant to destroy us, but for the purpose of these four major reasons.

1. STRONG LEARNING POINT. You will never be successful without failure. In failure, we learn what didn't work. There will never be a better way we can learn in life except through our failures. Failure teaches you what you didn't get right, or tells us we need another approach that works.

2. FAILURE HUMBLES US. If there were people who would never fail in anything in life, they would be overcome by pride. They would see themselves better than others. That is why you have little or nothing to learn in success, but more in failure. Success gives you pride, but failure will humble you.

3. FAILURE REVEALS WANTS FROM NEEDS. If you need water to drink, will you give up to look for water because someone denies you of water? Whatever that is called need is very essential, we don't give up on it because we fail in it. That is where we need perseverance. Failure is a defining moment of our life to tell if we really need it or we just want it.

4. FAILURE EITHER BREAKS YOU OR MAKE YOU. Not everyone who fails will fail to be made, but as a learning curve to restructure our character and to break our ego. So, when you fail, it is important you understand what it is teaching you. If failure is to humble you, it may have to first break you before it can make you.

My prayer for you today, when all storms of life rise against you because of your failure, may you rise above them for no storm stays raging forever. When your shame becomes the topic of the day because of your failure, may it turn to your badge of honor. When life makes a mess of your hopes and dreams because of your failure, may you remember that it is never over until you win. Amen!
