LIFE AND ITS VANITIES
LIFE AND ITS VANITIES.
On the tripod of life itself, I have seen disturbing things, most especially the vanities of life. I have seen the wisdom that the fools lack, and the foolishness the wise call wisdom.
I have seen the sense that is common to men, but how common sense has become uncommonly common among men. Will we stay truthful to ourselves to see that, the wisdom we are endowed with is not without its frailty to foolishness.
How witless can a man be! The more he loves to have, the more his heart turns to the abode of the dead that is never satisfied. Hence, I have seen people using the money they do not have, to buy things they don't need, only to oppress people they do not love.
How ridiculous we can be! I have observed that every man on the surface of the earth has his problem. You have one or more, and those who judge your problem equally have theirs that shall be judged by someone else who also has a problem or more. Every man can turn a professional without a degree to analyze other people's problem while there's is hanging on their neck.
Vanity upon vanity! I have observed that both the poor and the rich will suffer the same fate in the grave. Both shall be thrown into the pit. Cover up with dirt and beaten up by rain and sun daily. The wealth of the rich, and the wretchedness of the poor will be without the power to do any more good or harm as they entered into the abode of no return.
How farcical human can be! I have seen great physicians and surgeons with all prowess and expertise, I have seen great knowledge among them. So many they have applied to save lives, but once upon a tragedy, they have always failed to save their lives. That is, when death comes knocking on their doors, their acquired knowledge becomes useless. For when death comes, even the best doctors are incapacitated to save themselves.
Beauty, but only a fairytale. The crevice, the wrinkles, and the gray hair, a reminder that the decrepitude was once an edifice, but will only end up being fed to maggots. Then what are we? A manure to grow plants we once consumed.
Is he a fool who gives what he cannot keep? Is he wise, who holds on to what can be taken from him?
You have heard it, but it won't count. It is what you do with what you've learned that will count at the end.
My prayer for you today, may the good LORD help you to learn what matters most in life. May He not without mercy grant you the understanding to give what you cannot keep so that you can gain what you cannot lose. AMEN
