THE 8 KEY ROLES TO PLAY IN SUSTAINING YOUR DREAM.
There are many dreamers out there and the world is full of them. We all have dreams, but we do not all live those dreams. It is one thing to dream, and it is another to live the dream. Truth be told, nothing is so easy in life more than to have a dream, and the most difficult part is to live the dream. There are many dreams out there rotting in the grave and thousands are joining them every day.
The question you will need to ask is if you want to take that dream to the grave, or you would like to live those dreams while you're still alive.
What is a dream? Does it worth dying for? Well, you will find out, but to fulfill a dream doesn't necessarily earn you fame, but you will leave behind a legacy that will live longer than your period on the surface of the earth.
To live a dream is to live fulfilled. What you call a dream matters because a real dream often comes selfless. Some dreams look to be all about you, but if you root deep into it, you will learn that there's more to people than you think of yourself in your dream.
Aliko Dangote, I doubt it if his dream has anything to do with being the richest man in Africa. Yet, he's the richest. He has given out more which has come back to him as a fortune because he's more of creating solutions which happened to be his biggest dream. If your dream is solving a problem, I suppose that's selfless enough if no ulterior motive is attached.
To help you live your dreams in life, I'll be sharing with you 8 key roles you will have to play if you will ever sustain your dream in life.
1. IF IT'S CALLED A DREAM, It MUST WORTH DYING FOR.
It is simple, what do we live for if it's not worth dying for? Sincerely, no one deserves life if he can't find what he lives for. You're never certain if it's worth a dream until you can bet your life on it.
Let me break it down. You must be able to redefine whatever you call a dream in your life. The reason people easily give up on their dream is because it was never a dream in the first place.
If you truly have a dream, then nothing will be able to come in-between you and your dream in life except death. Your dream is simply your burning passion. The flame for desiring it must keep glowing or else when the desire is weak, then the flame is put out.
2. NOT EVERYONE DESERVES TO KNOW OR LEARN ABOUT YOUR DREAM.
The very best way to easily kill your dreams in life is by telling it to people who do not understand it.
No one will quickly kill your dreams than those who have no adequate knowledge of it. You may think you're going for advice, and the best they can tell you is to quit pursuing such a dream because to them, it doesn't make any sense.
Truly, there are dreams that don't make sense, but people who will tell you to quit a dream are not people who are threatened by your dreams. Not those who are even without a dream for themselves, or those who are as well struggling to find a bearing for their personal dreams.
Even when you tell your dreams to people who are willing to help, you must be sure you understand your dream yourself so that where they do not understand, you can adequately explain. Always remember, no one should be able to understand your dream more than you do.
3. CHOOSE YOUR FRIENDS.
To help your dream, help yourself by those you move with. You will always be like five people in your life you spend most of your time with.
You need people who can fire you up. People who can inspire you. You need friends that can challenge you. In fact, you need more people in your life who are better than you do. That is why I always say, choose your friends, never let them choose you.
4. EVERY STEP COUNTS.
Every step you take daily counts. Your living must be intentional. You can't afford to live as you wish because every step you take daily must be those steps that can take you to your dreams daily.
This is where you must be conscious of your living. Dreams don't just happen, it must be planned because you will never achieve it by chance.
Whatever that is called dream must be big enough that it can never be achieved in days, weeks, or months. Sometimes, to accomplish a dream takes several solid years by breaking a lot of sweat.
No good dream can be accomplished once, but in parts. Do something a day about it. It could be about getting additional information about it, or seeking help from those who can give you support. All that is important is that! Make sure a day passes not without you doing something about your dream.
5. TAKING INVENTORY
At every point in your bed at night before you sleep, always ask yourself a few questions like these;
a. What new thing have I done about my dream today?
b. What unnecessary step did I take that I wouldn't like to repeat tomorrow?
c. What new thing have I learned about this project or dream?
You must develop the habit of always questioning your living, most especially when it comes to your dreams. You won't always see people around to ask you questions of such. Criticize yourself before others do it for you, judge your living if it's worth emulating.
6. YOU NEED A FRIEND TO COUNT ON.
You need a friend you can trust. You will never do everything all by yourself. We were never created to be self-sufficient, that power belongs to GOD alone.
The world is full of betrayals, hypocrites, sycophants, and many others. So, shall we conclude in our heart that because of this, we wouldn't have friends? Let me remind you, accidents happens everyday on the road, would you stop driving your car, or would you quit boarding vehicles because of that?
It is risky to choose a friend to confide on, but it is suicidal not to have anyone to confide on. That is why it is said, if you want to run fast, run alone. If you want to run far, run together.
7. IF AN OPPORTUNITY DOESN'T COME, CREATE ONE.
I learned and red in some books as I was growing up about preparing oneself for opportunities because they say, opportunity comes but once. If that's so, Thomas Edison would be a failure. In fact, the world would be too uncivilized, naive, and unsophisticated, occupied by fools and failures.
Opportunity comes but not once, but the question is, why do we always have to wait for opportunity to come, for we are not sure when it shall come? If the very opportunity you're looking for is not coming, design or create one for yourself. I am not talking about finding a shortcut, I'm talking about seeing opportunity in your problem. That could be all you need to help your dream than waiting forever. In fact, creating one could provoke more opportunities to come your way.
8. NO TIME WILL BE PERFECT FOR A THING WORTH DOING.
For most of us, the road to our dreams is long, challenging, and discouraging. This is where our appetite for our dreams will help redefine our dreams.
There will never be a perfect time to do anything in life that worth doing, you must seize every opportunity you have to do what you can do at a time. A dream takes years to be accomplished, the earlier, the better we start.
Then I ask, where are you taking your dream, or where is your dream taking you? Someone said, dream is not that which you see while sleeping, it is something that does not let you sleep.
So, Press on. Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent, says Ray Kroc.
Find your dream, that which is worth your daily breath.
My prayer for you today, may the good LORD send you the help you need and discerning spirit to identify every opportunity that disguises as a mess. Amen.
